Is AEV designing a Rock Slider similar to the ones they designed and built for the TJ's? I have that one now on my 03 Rubicon and it has done what it was designed for numerous times, from Moab to the Rubicon Trail, and the very difficult Leaning Tree trail up here in the Cascades. I've landed on boulders, scraped the sides of trees and stood on it (210lbs), and it has never failed. Having the tubular bar on there at an angle was one of the best ideas they came up with and has been copied by other manufacturers. ARB now markets their Rock Slider, I believe. So AEV, I hope one is in the works for the JK. :)

I haven't even seen anyone try to come up with something similar in design for the JK, however I have heard that there are some minor curves in the body that complicate this more than on the TJ. The closest I have seen are the Pure Jeep ones, but they are not as aesthically pleasing. I am sure that Dave is working overtime on designing everything, so I am sure that these are just a matter of time.

I agree Jon! I've looked at most of the manufacturers websites that are putting out JK products, and there is nothing out there like the old AEV rock sliders. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Dave and the boys are whipping up.

Anxiously awaiting as well.

Are these rock sliders going to be stamped steel as well and frame or body mount? I don't have a problem signing a NDA if needed.

Any thoughts from the AEV guys with regards to developing rock sliders?

I would think that stamping would be easier if you go with a body mount (which I would prefer) since the JK tub is not straight. This has been a holf up for most of the manufacturers so far on the body mounted rockers just because they are more complex to produce than they were on the TJ.

Whichever method AEV chooses, I'm sure it will be the best. All I know is that I love my AEV rock sliders on my 03 Rubi. Give it your best Dave and crew!! :):):)

So I was hoing that the Poison Spyder ones would be similar to the AEV ones like they were on the TJ, but needless to say they do not have a tube step, and the door protection is a separate piece that mounts to the body, and the rocker protection piece looks like it mounts to the frame. I just want some for the JK like there were fot the TJ. http://www.aev-conversions.com/gallery/albums/AEV_570_Hemi/P10100394.jpg
I would like them to mount to the body, and not come up between the doors, or the ends, and have a tube coming out to help provide more protection, and a place that can be used as a step when putting the top on. If this would get built, I am sure you would have the buyers.

Its pretty low on the list right now even though there is a need. The rear bumper and JK Suspension is taking all of our time currently.

What do you guys think about something to keep the mud off as well?

I would like something to keep the mud off. I like the ones that are as wide as the fenders. Makes it look more complete, and with the full with bumper going to the flares, I think it would compliment it nicely. Also I would like to see a location for the high lift jack (similar to in the front bumper possible) in case you need to jack from the side.

After spending a few months with my Unlimited and the Utah winter, keeping the mud/slush off is almost as important to me as protecting the body from the rocks! :o

I think something like the Teraflex, Rock Hard 4x4, or Fab Fours sliders would be great. They work as a slider, step, and mud gaurd. The only thing I dont like about them is they attach to the body. I dont want to have to drill bolts into the side.

I don't mind drilling into the body, but I do want some flush mounting hardware, or something similar to the nutzerts for the corners. All of the ones I have seen that I have kind of liked such as the Rock Hard make them part that mounts to the body thick enough that they can put a plug over the bolt hole. I would rather just have flush mounting hardware.

DAVE,
Is there any chance of sliders/steps from you guys?
