YEP! That's right. And yes we are building a new JK as a matter of fact I am ordering the new 2010 Rubicon today (07/07/09) and I've already bought the new 6.1 Hemi for it... Is that wrong that I've got the new engine for it before I have the Jeep itself???
Anyway yes this new JK will be one to watch and yes, AEV is helping me with it too... The Lower Forty fenders could be a part of it.
Stay tuned... Ben

I like the Lower Forty stuff too. Did the frame have to be modified to fit the front tires?

Yes. Reworked at the 'jog' to clear the tires. No other way around it besides insane amount of lift...

Cool. Did you guys do work on the Lower Forty? I was told that "Chrysler Design" made the hood and fenders.

I don't know about this vehicle, but on some of the Chrysler stuff like this the people who work on it are sworn to keep it....

We had nothing directly to do with it. We knew it was coming, and we provided a few Hemi-related parts for that aspect of it, but the rest was all the brainchild and execution of Chrysler Design Office (as their show vehicles normally are).

You mean future show vehicles? Well now how long do you think our relationship with CDO would last if we let their secrets out early? :( Pretty much anything preceded by the word 'future' is not worth asking about - just not good for biz to show cards before we have them...;)

Anyone have any more details on how the frame was modified?
I was totally not thinking about combining the 'Lower Forty' theme with a 3-door J8 diesel.......

Frame mods were chopping the excess off the front and rear ends for aesthetics, plus a large 'dish' out of the jog behind the front tires to clear the 40's at full turn. From the looks of it they had to go to about 1/2 width for about 6"...probably okay for most of what you might do to it, but would need some additional structure for hard pounding.

Thanks Jim.
I have to wonder if it would be worth it to cut the frame on a J8 to make this happen? The already heavy duty J8 frame would need to be braced and reinforced for the sure to maintain one of the key features of the J8 in the first place.
I do think that the idea has the potential to very cool in the end! Just imagine the J8 with 40s and no lift....oh boy that could monster.
Hutchinson makes a nice set of 17x8's with the proper 5 on 5.5 pattern. The center hole is most likely wrong however. Some 40" Goodyear MT/R Kelvar tires of maybe some 40" Krawlers or KM2s.
I'll be back....I have to go buy a lottery ticket....

Good luck with that lotto ticket...so far I've only won $3 over the years of occasional playing...barely gets you a valve stem...:(
