I live in VA, so driving my Ruby up to MI might be a time challenge (time off work, etc). I have the 3.5" Nth Deg Suspension for my JK. If I don't get the gears/wheels/tires done by you, and have the local shop do it instead, what gears do you recommend? This is the one item you install, but don't sell separately. Quadratec offers Superior brand gears. Are these recommended? Or is there a Mopar 4.88 we should get?

I may break down and head on up to MI (eventually) to get this much done, when it's time to upgrade the wheels/tires, so if I do, will the AEV warranty attach to that job?

Assuming you have 35's 5.13's would be a nice choice for overal drivabilty. I would stay far away from superior gears as they tend to be noisey from my experience, maybe they changed this don't know.

Somebody chime in here about the Superiors. Yegge stopped by here with a Hemi powered JK running Superior 4.88s, they seems smooth and quiet on the test drive. He did say they had a few issues with lateral runout on the gears, but only a few. Hopefully we'll get some more feedback from those of you running lower gears. We just got our first set of 5.13s and will be installing next week on a Sahara.

generally auto trans, 5.13
manual 4.88 this is based on the us petro 3.8 I dont have a clue about the Diesel JK's

aldebaran, if your going to do gears, this is the time to do lockers... its almost the same labor. dont want to do it twice

On the diesel with a 35" tire a 4.56 gear would probably be one of the better ones for a 35-37" tall tire. This really isn't enough to make it worth while though to regear since the CRD has so much extra torque.

i relly havent found someone with an already regeared jk unlimited crd here in greece..so..i have to try a lot of "tastes".yes u r right about the torque..but i dont know how it will work in heavy mud and snow...i believe too that 4.56 will be fine with 35"..i am alway talkind about the crd manual.what your opinion about 33"?4.10 will be fine?what if i use 4.56 with 33"?any comment would be a great help..thnx mates!

I think a 4.56 would kill your rpms at hwy speed with a CRD. A 4.10 would keep you closer to 2k rpms on the why.

The J8's are running 4.10s with 33s I think.

i think that i will move into 4.10 in my crd unlimited.with 35" tires and 3.5nth premium..i hope that the torque will keep it safe..i just dont know if my front danna 30 will have any problem with gear ratio upgrate and locker.
