is it still necessary cut the frame in half if i'll use the LJ frame? lengthin the fram is the only thing that scares me from doing the conversion.

I believe you do because the wheelbase of the brute is around 116", and the LJ hasa shorter wheelbase than this.

Correct. The 104" wheelbase of the unlimited is still too short to meet the required wheelbase of the Brute (~117").
The conversion is still possible, the only major change would be the difference subtracted from the frame extensions.
Of course, you would probably be better off selling the Unlimited and starting with a short wheelbase Wrangler. If no other reason then the Unlimited has a higher selling point.

Or.... thinking differently for a second...
Could you use the Brute kit on an Unlimited - and have 10" of extra space between the cabin and the bed?
Making it look elegant would require a little work - but that'd be a great place for a custom auxiliary fuel tank, water tank and perhaps a couple additional batteries... Unforunately not quite enough room to tuck a spare tire behind the cab...

I guess if you really wanted to get into it, you 'could' make a longer Brute, but you would be modifying our parts, making new floor panels, frame extension and body mounts, etc etc
Basically you'd be redoing a lot of the work we did to make the first Brutes. Of course its possible but you'd be modifying every part of the kit.

so really it would not get you a seat in back but extra in cab cargo maybe thats what your after. cant say it wouldn't be nice to have.

I did see another company offering something similar to this, but I don't remember who it was. I remeber seeing a few pictures of it in magazines and I think there was like 10 inches of storage space behind the seats.
