I am painting my AEV hood the same as the white with black Mopar Overland Concept jeep.
Does anyone know if the black section on the hood is a decal (3M) or if it is painted?

Its paint. I'm not sure, but it looks like they used a vinyl mask first. Chrysler has some really good painters, but the lines looked too perfect.

Thanks Dave.
My painting guys says he does not know how they it painted so crisp. That is why he thought it might be a 3M decal.

Do you offer the painted hood with the expedition package? If not then how much would it cost?

They certainly can get it painted however you want. I know in the AEV Flicker page there is a JK that was painted to match the motorhome it was being towed behind. Since the AEV logo was matched to the paint I am pretty sure this is something AEV cordinated.

Thanks Jon.... I talked to Kent this week about ordering a JK and when I asked he said he would have to check with ???? about getting it done.
I think it would look good on the Dark Charcoal Pearl.

I ended up having my hood done with the matt black center section. A high-end custom paint shop did mine and powder-coated the vent inserts.

That is what I am looking to do.... How much did you end up paying..
Can you attach some pics?

It was $600. to paint.
Sorry, can't figure out how to attach photos. I had it done the same as the white Overland Concept Jeep.
As I mentioned I had the vent inserts powder-coated black as well.

Thanks Greg...
Hopefully Kent will call this week so I can go forward with my purchase. I am looking to build a Dark Charcoal Pearl with the Overland hood in Matt Black and the Black Savegre rims.
Still pondering the 35's vs. 37's... I haven't heard anything on mileage yet.

If you are going with a 4 door then I would lean more towards the 37" tire, and if you are going with a 2 door then go for the 35" tire. I know that with the 4 door you really need those extra few inches to compensate for the long wheelbase if you are in situations where you may get high centered.
I know that I was thinking 35" tires would be good enough, but after wheeling for a year with 32" tires and 2.5" of lift, and being with guys wheeling a 3.5" lift with 35" tires we both tend to get high centered a lot, where the person we wheel with that has a 4" lift and 37" tires never seems to have that issue.
