View Full Version : 4-dr. Brute a possibility at all??

Could a 4-door Brute conversion ever become a reality? One possible way I'm thinking it could be approached would be to chop a 2-door TJ Unlimited and keep the extra length so the 2 rear doors would fit (with some sheet metal work and a custom top, etc., obviously)...is that feasible or way off? Otherwise, will AEV be offering JK Brute conversions anytime soon, and if so, would a 4-door be a possibility or not? Any Photoshoppers out there willing to take a crack at what this would look like - I get a kinda fuzzy image of it in my head when I squint real hard, but I think I like what I see... ;-) Thanks!

There is a lot of work to be done when adding another set of doors. Aside from the metal and top which you mentioned, you would have new stampings for a B pillar, hinges, latches, seals, glass, lower/raise mechanism, interior trim pieces and more.
Its also hard for me to imagine a proportional 4 door Brute. It was difficult enough to make the vehicle look correct at its current state, something I think was done rather well as very few people realize its about 4 feet longer then a SWB Wrangler.
If you are worried about building a 2 door only for us to come out with a four door model... I suggest for no breath-holding to be done. :)

I know there a lot of rumors about the JT coming from Jeep. Maybe in a few years you can get a crew cab pickup directly from the dealership. I know I would like one, but the bed would probably have to be pretty short so it could still wheel.

If that's really what you want - I'd imagine stretching the back of a 4-door JK being the easiest solution. Leave the doors alone and just make the back end more truck-like.
Find a second JK that's been destroyed in the front end - take the back section and blend it in with the back of the 4-door. You could end up with a 4-door 6x6 pickup :)
