Hello, I'm new to this forum and am highly interested in building a Brute of my own, but I have some questions before I decide to start one. I've done a lot of research about the Brute, and have been unable to find some answers, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, hopefully someone can help.
I'm mostly concerned with the licensing of the vehicle. I'm from Washington state, and I know there are strict laws on pick-ups, how much they can carry or haul, general vehicle strengths, etc. Jeep has to make sure every vehicle passes certain inspections, and meets specific codes. Since the Brute is a Wrangler turned into a pick-up (and wasn't intended to be in the first place), and not always by a licensed shop, wouldn't you have to have the vehicle inspected afterwards? If so, where would you have this done? Also, each pick-up has load ratings, what is the Brute capable of? Is it a 1/2 ton, or what? How does the DOL view the Brute? Is there additional charges for owning one? Etc, etc.... You know what I'm getting at.
I'm just a guy who doesn't like surprises when it comes to stuff like this. I'd hate to get my Brute all fixed up nice, only to find the state is going to charge me loads of money to have it for whatever dumb reason. Any information would be great. Thanks for your help guys.
