Rumor (from roadmaster) that AEV and roadmaster were working on a compatible bracket for roadmasters tow bar. Anybody heard if / when a receiver type bracket will be available?

I was going to buy Mopar Tow Bar Temporarily. But, apparently, it's not available any more. I hope this becomes a reality.....

I just bought my JK (Unlimited X) this weekend with the intention of selectively upgrading using the AEV front bumper and adding a Warn winch as finances (and the wife) permit. The compatibility with the Mopar towbar would be a real plus. I notice a Mopar towbar is still listed as a Jeep JK accessory on their web site.

Is this the same towbar? What other towbars are out there that are compatible with AEV front bumper?

Mel,

Yes. I am referring to the Mopar Tow Bar that's on Mopar website as JK accessory.

Reason I said it's not available any more is because I spoke to someone at Jeep dealership parts department. He told me that he is no longer able to order it; and there are only 3 dealership in the country that have it right now. (Apparently, DC wanted to know who purchased it and what the VIN of their vehicles are. So I am concluding and suspecting that there must have been some kind of trouble with that tow bar.)

Having said what I said about compatibility, I did have very reputable local custom hitch outfit make brackets to be attached to Roadmaster tow bar and AEV tow loops this week because I have a motor coach and bought my Rubi with a plan to use Roadmaster all terrain tow bar. (All terrain meaning it's much easier to hook up and unhook because of its design versus A-frame tow bar like Mopar tow bar.)

My motor coach is in the shop right now. So I will have to post some photos when I get it back and all set up.

I went in to my local Chrysler-Jeep Dealer this afternoon with a list of Mopar parts I wanted to order for my new JK X Unlimited (steps, cruise control, tow bar and wiring harness) and was told the tow bar that superseeds the one currently cataloged will not be available until Mid-July.

That being said, he told me their RV dealership down the street carried the OEM version of the Mopar tow bar and could install it for me. The investigation continues -- however, now I am thinking I should just buy an all-terrain (quick hook-up and release) Roadmaster tow bar and see what, if anything, AEV comes up with.

Mel,

First, I want to apologize to you for my previous post because I failed to ask you what your needs are in regards to towing your Jeep such as what you would be towing your Jeep with and how often.

My application has been to tow my Jeep with my motor coach; and that's all I have been reading about. So I failed to consider other reasons someone may be towing his/her Jeep.

I would choose Mopar tow bar if I was just towing my Jeep with my truck or SUV.

I would not imagine that you would want to leave the all terrain tow bar on your truck or SUV all the time driving around town, especially because you would be adding additional length to the back by leaving it on. Also, if you tow more than one thing, you can just use a ball mount for convenience.

Also, in my opinion, the additional cost of all terrain tow bar is not warranted in this particular situation.

I hope this helps.

Has there been any update on this? I am looking for a tow bar to purchase for my jeep. I have not gotten the AEV yet, but this is the bumper I want to go with. I just need to find a tow bar that will work with it.

I ended up ordering a Currie skid plate and A Frame tow bar the same day I ordered a set of AEV rear corner guards from David at Northridge 4x4. Got the AEV product the very next day including free shipping and a Northridge tee shirt:) -- still waiting on the skid plate and tow bar to come from Currie.

There has to be a tow bar that works with the AEV bumper. You can see that this Jeep is set up with someones.

I'd love something definitive on this, too.

To the folks at AEV, is there any reason why the JK with your hemi conversion can't be flat towed safely? Any precautions that should be taken?

AEV Matt, Any updates on this? Do you guys have any slick ideas or brackets to make our Jeeps w/ AEV bumpers flat towable? (besides the lame MOPAR towbars). Judging from the number of reads on this subject, maybe you guys should look at building something. I know I would buy one (OK that makes one ..... anybody else?)
