Hello,
Im wandering if there was any possibility of you guys producing the JK corners
with cutouts for LED's or no cutouts at all, and no cutouts for the license plate mount
there has been A LOT of interest on other forums from these, one of your vendors, Dave at Northridge4x4 said that you guys needed 100 or so committed,
here is a link to the thread to a jk forum that has plenty of interest,
http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=24432&highlight=aev+corners
http://www.jk-forum.com/showthread.php?t=32023&highlight=aev+corner
is there any possibility of you guys producing these???
we're in dire need of getting rid of the ugly bulky taillights on the JK's
PLEASE PLEASE make some for us!!!

I know that Dan at Northridge has been pushing for these, but there needs to be enough interest in them for 100 sets to be produced. I think that if these are designed that AEV will also need so specify which LED lights they designed them around, since different ones will fit differently. I would like to see them work with Litedots. I personally am ok with the JK taillights, but if this were to come out, I would also like to see the license plate get relocated to the tire carrier (like off-road only has with their kit).

We've looked into it but apparently its not as easy as just leaving the holes out. The factory taillights have some brackets that sit out away from the body that means the customer would have to dent the tabs in to make the corners fit. I know the guys are still working on a solution.

How about the corner guards, stock taillights and no plate holes? I damaged the body on my 07 from the plate holder catching on my trailer. It was jacknifed,, on purpose,, m416,, and when straightening out the handle on the bed corner cought the plate holder and pulled it.. If it wasnt for the holes I would have moved the plate to the spare. I plan on doing this to my 08 that I'm picking up friday. I'd like to put your corner guards on and relocate the plate before that plate holder(which sticks out way too far) ruins my day again!
Thanks for your time,,

I know that there is a plug made for the Wranglers sould in Europe that will fill that hole in. It is the same color as the bumper and flares, and I have seen people use this to cover up the hole after relocating the plate.

That plug covers the hole in the body,, looks goofy,, but,, when I'm paying $300 for a set of cornerguards I'd like to have those 3 holes left out.. If you dont have the plate there those holes stand out bad.. and for the $,,, I'd like it to look good..
Now heres a question,, on the lj cornerguards available from jeep catalog they had a grab handle on them,, wouldnt mind having that too,, make an extra place to grab onto or hook a bungy cord onto..

OK guys, I'll through this out there. If it were just a matter of leaving the holes out we would have corners out there with no holes. The problem is that there are some protrusions in the Jeep body that would need to be "persuaded" in a bit with a hammer and dolly and that the hole for the stock tail lamp is not big enough for a 4" LED which means trimming would be required also. Now to install the corners, you're already drilling into the body, so its probably not a huge deal to most but we would like some feedback. Ignore the LightDOT reference in the photo, it would be the same for the LightDOT or a standard 4" LED.

If you're just looking to get rid of the plate, we did size the holes at 1/2" and 1" so plugs can be used, there are some really good shallow plastic plugs that blend in very well.

Yeah,, I'm only talking about the plate holes not being there.. Sorry for the confusion.. And I dont mean to be picky but at the cost of these I dont eant three plastic plugs on the corner, seen it done and it sticks out like a sore thumb.. If these were cheap I'd deal with it.
I dont see an issue with the factory lights and running leds will screw with the computer as these do not have your standard flasher any longer but is controlled buy the computer?
Remember it could be worse,, I could be asking about the rear bumper progress ;)

This can be corrected by running a resistor in-line to eliminate the fast flash.

Understood about the plugs, but like I said there are some that are hardly noticeable. From our end we have guys asking for no license plate holes, guys asking for license plate holes and no taillight holes, some want them coated, some don't, some want grab loops etc...that would all be fine if we built them one set at a time. The fact that we build in sets of 100 to 300 would play havoc with our inventory system to have eight versions of the same part. I think we probably will do something for the LED guys (you can just do the resistor trick, and some already have the resistor built in) but just not sure what yet.

i dont think taking the BFH to the light openings is tht much of a big deal
i mean putting these corners on is a permanent solution, so nothing will be seen underneath, if you can just make it smooth with no openings, i think a lot of people will by that
or a custom "flush" mount light will work as well
if these ever come out, ill buy them
heck id buy them now, if you could make some without the cutouts for the license plate

Make a set with NO cut outs, period. With the understanding the corners need tweaking to fit, after all its a mod/upgrade not an accessory. You already have the standard set for the remove/replace types. And add paper templates for most common requests...plate...factory lights...litedots etc. You will sell a ton. Most people buying these actually offroad there JK's and less is more!

All good suggestions, still looking for others, and more importantly how people feel about having to cut/tweek on the Jeep corner.
No need for a BFH...more like a thumb...this is JK sheet metal after all:D

Cutting or hammering the body back there doesn't matter to me at all, since the corners require drilling into the body anyhow.
A set of corners with no cuts gets my vote. Then, if someone wants licenseplate holes or whatever, they can do it themselves.

I think that I will wait since no one has developed a set of LED lights for the JK yet. If AEV comes out with a corner and light combo then I would get them, but at the moment it would be a custom fit and wiring for the lights.

I'm waiting to see what AEV comes up with too,, I just hope it doesnt take too long,, unless the camper roof is what delays it,, that be ok to bump in line,, I'd like to see that made too :)
Steve
If AEV, or anyone else for that matter, does a drop in LED solution for the JK, please work in reflectivity to it. The TJ LiteDots are very cool ,but for me they seem a bit unsafe because they have no reflective surfaces on them. For daytime visibility this really is a necessity.

I keep checking back to see if AEV has any updates on this.
Not sure if all the input was over 100... but it seems like the majority of everyone wants the corners with no holes at all, and the body holes hammered or cut away so the corners would be smooth around the taillight housing.
I would kill to have this made. Yes, I said kill. Hopefully AEV doesn't abandon this issue, because I like to think a lot of people are interested in this.
Thanks guys.

Is there any updated info on this? Are they available yet?

Ah, the AEV "Builders Corners", they haven't been announced yet, but they are available and on the shelf - Four Door only, part number is 10303044AA. This is a RAW (no paint, just raw steel) corner with no holes for the stock tail lights or the for the plastic license plate bracket. These are intended for people looking for more custom solutions and are intending on adding LED taillights or for a better roof rack mount etc...
Not on the website or at dealers yet, you'll need to call.

Any progress on the two door or is it not even on the radar yet?

We have to wait till we re-set the die which isn't as often on the two door as it is on the four door. Setting a die can take an entire day to do, so when we do it we run a lot of corners (several hundred sets at a time). When we get to our restocking point on the two door next time we'll run Builders Corners for those as well.

If you're just looking for LED tail lights, and want them to mate in with the corner guards, there is this option:
http://www.quadratec.com/products/55213_9104.htm
They plug right in to the original connectors and fit exactly the same housing as they're the same size/shape. Of course, if you're stuck on getting round tail lights (Litedot), you'll have to do it all custom.

I was about to order some soon- in next month or two. May wait until after I do some undercarriage armor (to include AEV Rear Slider). I was curious why you haven't developed a front slider. Next closest thing I can find is the Rancho, since most companies only make diff covers, and the Warn "slider" is more like a cover.

Probably no need for a front slider on a high pinion axle. Those were for the days of TJ.

Don't buy those.. The back up lights are regular bulbs.. The turn lights flash way too fast.. They have a resistor installed (looks like an after thought engineering wise) .. once in a while they will flash normal rate after 10-15 fast flashes but this was very sporadic..
I returned my stuff for a refund, this after 2 months sending e-mails back and forth.. Pilot Automotive, the Manufacturer, was no help at all...
Just sharing info here..
