Hello. I am in the market for a Jeep to convert into a Brute. What should I look for in a candidate for the conversion? For the next 5 or so years I would like the only thing that I do to it is the Brute Conversion, I don't want to have to replace the engine or anything like that just yet as I am a college student and don't really have the time for all of that. Let me know what you all think in what years/models I should look at and how much I should spend on it. Thanks.

The 99 to 03 Wranglers seem to have the most reliable drivetrain, so that is where I would start. If you want a more offroad worthy one then I would get a 03-06 Rubicon for the Dana 44's and lockers, but if while you are in college don't plan on anything too serious off road, then stick with the 99-03. Also do not pay the extra for an LJ. Then end result is the same, and so the extra money is not worth it.
