I am seriously looking into getting an '09 JK Unlimited with the 5.7 swap later this year or next and would like to find out more about the purchasing process and upgrade options that AEV is willing to do along with a swap. Does AEV have any sort of literature that has a more exhaustive overview on this process and the details?

Here's a blast of questions I've got in my head in no particular order I'd hope that any lit might mostly answer.

1. Safety: Does the bigger engine compromise any of the new safety features in the JK? In other words, will everything from airbags to traction control still work as Chrysler designed and crash tested them to?

2. Rules & regs: Dave mentioned somewhere here in the forums that federal regulations require the final owner to take delivery before a swap can be done. How does this affect the build and key handover process?

3. Smog certs: I live in the wondrous jurisdiction of CARB so this is a big concern, if not a deal breaker for me. Can AEV qualify that the 5.7 conversion and exhaust will at least be up to par on emissions with similarly equipped factory models, e.g. an Grand with the 5.7? Does AEV have any even anecdotal history of hemi swap customers getting their Wranglers safely through the CARB gauntlet? (more info on the exhaust setup with the 5.7 in general would be helpful.)

4. Additional drivetrain upgrades: Can AEV do things like gearing changes and axle shaft upgrades on the D44s as part of a swap? How much latitude does a customer have in this area that still fits in the swap purchase price?

You'll probably want to send a salesman my way to answer these questions. But I have a feeling other potential purchasers may like to hear more on these topics as well so if anyone can answer here, that would be great too.

I know that as far as safety goes yes everything does work just like it does with the stock engine in it. You will still have the BTC, ABS, traction control, airbags.

They can also swap gear, axle shafts, etc... and they have already done this on several Jeeps over the years. If you want them tro re-gear might as well just do it all at once.
