I know it has been talked about before, but Pertersen's 4 wheel & offroad July issue (page 80) has a story on the Proposed Diesel Crate motor. We have covered this a bit in other discussions here on the forum and the article doesn't shed any new details. It talks about the Test mule @ easter Jeep Safari and it seems they had a behind the scenes look of the build up. Interesting article, but the best part was they encouraged its readership to write Chrysler and reference the story if they want the to see this come to Fruition. I say we start a small letterwriting campaign :)

The contact is obviously the PR agency but why not... moparpr@jrthompson.com

Man wouldn't that be great... I've always wanted to build a biodiesel wrangler.

I'll send them a message and pass the word.

I know that a few weeks ago on the Chrysler advisory board I was asked what type of engine I would like to see as an alternative fuel, and it seemed as though diesel was the most popular, and then a week later they had a poll on diesel engines specifically. I think that Chrysler is seriously looking into putting a diesel into most vehicles. When they were bought from Daimler the new CEO they placed in there said that by 2010 they would try to offer an alternative fuel engine for every vehicle.

as much as it would suck to find a not beat used 2.8L CRD if i could just get a stand alone and flywheel/clutch i would be happy

but a full on crate would be even better

I think I would still go with the Mopar 2.8 crd over buying a new JK with a crd. I have so much done to my jeep, I would hate to start over again for the 2nd time! Visit the site below and send an email off.

I think from what I have been hearing the diesel 2.8 crate is pretty much going to come out soon. I think they are just finalizing the details, and getting all of the suppliers lined up for the neccesary parts.

I am sure it will take at least a year to figure this all out so it works properly!

Anymore news on this kit or is it as good as dead? I would still buy one yesterday if they are available. Sent countless emails already. Brute, with Adventure Trailer Box for the bed, a RTT, and the CRD makes one hell of an overland platform!

I know I am waiting to put it onto a JK for the better MPG. At the moment I am only getting 17.5mog with the 3.8 motor, and would like to see it in the 20 mpg range when I add 37" tires.
