For those interested we have posted the AEV JK Snorkel Installation Instructions here:

http://www.aev-conversions.com/pdf/isheets/AEV_JK_Snorkel.pdf

For a first time install we are estimating 3hrs with the factory hood. The installation can be done in about 30 minutes if you already have an AEV Heat Reduction Hood.

If you are running the AEV hood do you still run the trim ring around where the snorkel goes through the hood?

Its optional.

Hi
I just pre-ordered AEV snorkel from National4wd, my question is that if I have bushwacker flares installed on my jk will the snorkel still fit ?

Thanks in advance:confused:

I'm not 100% on this but if I remember correctly we had a test unit go out to a dealer that was running the Bushwacker flares.

He said there were clearance issues with the flare. He never explained exactly what he did but there was significant trimming involved.

Thats about all I know on the subject,

On page two they have Bushwacker, on the later pages they have xenons...that may tell us something. I haven't had a chance to talk to them lately to ask.

We have the bushwackers listed as a conflicting item but we've never actually tried them with the snorkel. My guess is there would be significant trimming of the flare to make it work since the flare comes up pretty high.

Thanks for your prompt info. If they could do it, so can I, "little" bit of triming is part of the game when you work on jeeps :D

Looks like a pretty impressive Jeep, but I can't imagine how much that huge winch would block airflow to the radiator

After waiting on the backorder list I received this today:

This snorkel is discontinued until further notice which is probably
about 3 to 6 months.

> *aev has just informed us that this snorkel has been discontinued.

I would guess that this was a mistake.

No mistake.
They have two product codes 17100 100 is the snorkel with a prefilter and 17100 101 is for the snorkel with the ram air. I suggest anyone that is waiting on a AEV snorkel from Quadratec should check their order because they have just cancelled any order waiting for the 17100 101.
When you ask why your order is cancelled the response is AEV has discontinued the snorkel.
It has taken me the last two hours to sort this out and change my order to the prefilter (17100 100) kit.

Delayed but not discontinued. The air ram will be produced, its just out there a bit yet. I think the discontinued came from the way QuadraTec's system works, ie they can only "discontinue" a product that has already been uploaded into their system, they don't have a "delayed" status.

The Pre-Filters are shipping to dealers around the world now. The air ram will available shortly.

Do you have any pics of the ram air version?

No problem to remove the door. You can also tilt the hood all the way up to the windshield frame like many of us like to do for engine work.

Wondering if AEV will use a Donaldson Air Ram, since they used a Donaldson Precleaner.

If you look close in the instructions there is a rendering of the ram. Its changed a bit but you'll get the feel.

Anyone have a direct side view shot. Or can tell me if the light brackets would still clear?

Interested in getting the snorkel (since I have the AEV hood), but wanted to see if the KC windshield light brackets and Hella lights would clear. Can't tell from the images or the instructions.

Also, I'm guessing/hoping that the fender trimming for the Bushwackers is becasue they ride up higher, and that a Xenon flat fender kit (which sits lower and flatter than the stock bumpers) wouldn't require any additional trimming.

I know Putnam Dan is running a windsheild light bracket with a Baja Designs LED light and needed to add a spacer to puch the light forward about 1" to clear the snorkel. He pulled an item that holds the rear bumper on and used that, and it seems like it has worked pretty well.
