View Full Version : Hemi with a snorkel?

Recently I had to get some light engine work done after my LJ decided it wanted to take a big old gulp of mud. Luckily everything was still under warranty. I got to thinking about how peeved I would be if I had a Hemi conversion.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to create some sort of modular snorkel intake system for a Hemi. Perhaps some sort of box around the intake that could be blocked off and routed through the snorkel for muddin and then opened up for on-road performance?

I've always wanted to get a Hemi for my Jeep, but would be heartbroken if it got submerged, and have never seen a snorkel system for a Hemi.

Just an idea.

Ive wondered this as well.Even for the JKs.

I did notice that someone is making a kit to build your own intake system.I bet you could use pieces off of it.

The AEV JK snorkel works with the Hemi per AEV Dave in a recent post on the JK forum about using the snorkel with a supercharger:

If it hooks up to the stock box you should be fine. The snorkel itself is designed for the 2.8L (Turbo) as well as the V8s. If you had the top of the airbox from the 2.8L it has a 4" snout and intake...but if Hesco sets it up for the stock 3.8L box, I guess they figure that size is ok...

I think Brad Kilby made an ARB snorkel work with his TJ HEMI. As I recall he found some sort of aftermarket cylindrical air box from a Honda that fit a cone filter and plumbed it all together.
