Went camping and kayaking on the MT/ID border over the weekend. Still plenty of snow in the high country. We had a week of nice weather - really nice weather. Its thursday evening now and they are calling for this area to get hit with 3ft of spring snow tonight. Got to love the weather around here!

We slid down a big hill on Saturday, this was Sunday morning, it was already too hot. This section was four full winch pulls, the photo of course doesn't show how steep it is. Jesse (the Toyota) doesn't have a winch, so we used the rear winch on the Brute. Photo was taken at about 6900 ft. The best thing about deep snow is that all the underbrush is long gone.

This photo was on Saturday afternoon, I was here a few weeks ago and there was several more feet of snow, this photo was taken at about 5000 ft.
245

Here was a drift down low that was pretty sketchy if you fell off to the right...you probably were not going to stop :) If you look close you can see Dave Dog wishing I had let him out of his kennel before going over this section.

Camp. This photo was taken at about 10:00 in the evening. 46 33.648N 114 27.670W for you Google Earth types. Got to test out the new ARB tent, it was pretty nice. Its a parachute on the highway, but good to have at night.
247

Got a fire going, even though it only dropped into the high 50s overnight. In the morning, the fire was about 5 ft lower than in this photo. Total snow depth was around 9 ft here.

This time of year I run 39.5x13.5R17 Interco IROKs. They are really really good in the snow when aired down. Seems like most of the mountain trucks I see in the backcountry are all running them or the 41s or 42s.

Here are some better photos of the 39.5s:

I also have a set of 37" BFG KM2s that I normally run. Pics of same truck - different shoes:

I remember in I think 2001 waking up in Missoula in June to 3 feet of snow . I called in sick to work, and headed staight to Snow Bowl for the day :D. That was really crazy weather for Montana.

I wish we had the snow to go wheeling in, but everything is in bloom here. :(

This truck has the prototype Nth Brute/Unlimited progressive heavy load rear springs (just about to be released) with the Nth spring relocators. In the front, it currently has RE 3" springs with 1.75" spacer. Shocks are remote reservoirs Bilsteins and its running the Superlift drop brackets. With the HEMI and the way the Brute weighs out, it comes out to about a 4.5-5" lift. The front is basically a stock Rubicon 44 with 4.88s. Rear is a Iron Rock Jock Dana 60 with 4.88s and an ARB with the big brakes.

This Brute is the most fun vehicle I have ever owned.

It is in the Bitterroot Selway Range, just south of Lolo peak. If you google earth it you will see the trail starts just off of Highway 12, a few miles past the Lolo hot springs.

Dave,

We are headed over the Magruder Corridor this weekend! We will see how far we make it in 4 days. It looks like you where in a lot of snow! Wish you could have made the trip....

I'll be sure to post up pics when we get back....
