I think the guys are hoping to revisit the WK/XK bumper once the JK rear bumper is done.

Oh how long I have been waiting for your front mounted winch, fender flares, 4" lift, and ANYTHING else you could give the XK!! We have been tortured by your SEMA pics for so long and can't wait for these products!!!!!!!!

I would like the winch mount most of all. The ESP thing would be my second buy.

A heat reduction hood for the WK and XK would be cool. Bumpers and rocker rails would be nice too.

I'm looking for bumpers and a winch for the XK!

Me too .. to all of the above, including fender flares.

Love the AEV Commander and was one of the reasons for even considering the XK.

Show the XK some LOVE!!!

There seems to be the same thread started multiple times in this forum, could we combine all of them into one?

I got yelled at for joining into someone elses thread on a similar subject, but I too am interested in a front mounted winch like your test commander that everyone seems to drool over. (ME TOO ME TOO)The iceland edition or something?? But I dont want to mount a winch on the bumper so it can get pulled off...i want it as an intergral part of the bumper so it has more integrated strength. And it looks nicer.

I am electronically signing 4.7's petition.....

Maybe someone from AEV will chime in, but I am thinking that this could ahve been a conversion that they completed since they were part of the Ultimate Adventure. Is this possibly the new winch mount that is being designed?

Nope, don't know who made that one. All we did with that vehicle was give them a set of wheels and an EGR module.

that is a horrible attempt at a winch mount. that person should be shot.

i'm going to start building a bumper for my commander next year. i've started take measurements and drawing them up in CAD.

I am with you on that one. Why would anyone give up so much of your approach angle and not to mention the weight that you are adding. I like the hidden winch the best, but would settle for a new bumper that has winch mount.

JeepinJon

I would like to see it integrated and hidden like in the Mojave concept.

jeepfreak

that mount is horrible. on the other hand, the wheel/tire combo looks great, first set of beadlock Pintler's I have seen on anything other than a JK. i'll take a set for my WK!

If you guys get those Icelandic flares out I know I would be considering an XK as a daily driver...

Couple year$ away for me though...

Whew! Glad I didn't have to say it was ours, I guess you guys don't like it so much :)

There are a lot of us unJeep Jeeper out there that want quality parts for their non Wrangler ( Large profit aftermaket machine ) I needed the extra seating so that I could take my many Grandchildren to off roading events! I got the seats but no one wants to build the parts to make the Commander usable. Not enough of them out there... Most old foggies my age don't want to be bothered with off roading... Buy one of the best vehicles in the world and never get it out of the supermaket lot...pity..So why won't AEV make the parts that say are available.....Available? Beats the hell out of me, all Commander owners have the same money as the Wrangler people. Maybe if they were really available, a larger portion of the Commander owners would take notice and start showing proper interest...Maybe...Changing the subject to the same thing.....I talked with a Jeep Jambo guild who advised me to only take my Commander to the easiest events so that my machine might survive the encounter....everyone thinks similarly....
No aftermarket parts....don't bring your barge here... don't bother us!! Is anyone going to help??!!!

I just got a 2007 Commander sport yesterday. I would really like to see a front bumper and flares.

Yeah, some pocket style flares for the XK would be sweet.

Ok, I moved to Missoula to be first in line for that winch/bumper, but then 4.7 Commander goes and makes a great bumper on his own! Now I have to move to Wyoming!

i love the hidden winch mount on the 04 SEMA mojave - what i like about it is that it utilizes the factory bumper and enhances the look of the original design - D-rings pretty much kick ass too

I've been waiting years for the ESP chip. But what the Comamnder 5.7 Hemi really needs is a spare gas tank! Mounted where the spare tire used to be, but won't fit anymore due to the 33" boots. Otherwise Inuvik is a no-go! MagnaFlow cat-back sure helped with power after the AEV 4" lift. I've also installed my own GPS (Sony Vaio, Garmin bluetooth, Fugawi topo's). I don't like the YakRack much, too noisy.

Did you feel a noticeable power gain w/ the new cat back? I'm running the new 4.7 in my WK and it has 305hp - which i have to say is probably more then i need. But as always its never enough.

Also - any real gas mileage gains?

GrampaDavid

Yes, a noticeable power gain w/ the CatBack exhaust (returning power lost w/ the 4

Definitely want a bumper with hidden winch. Not stock bumper modified to take in hidden winch.

Me too, so I built one. (Well, technically speaking, I designed it, helped fab the bulk of it and found a sheet metal shop to bend the center section to look more professional.) Still not 100% complete, but pretty close...

AEV - if you like it and think it would sell, you're welcome to the designs. I kinda borrowed your idea of replacing the crossmember with a winch mount, so major mods to the front are required.

End caps are 3/16" plate, 'cause that's where most contact with rocks occurs (at least in the terrain I wheel). Center skin is 14 gauge to save weight.

Next mod is to replace stock hooks with Ram hooks, placed slightly in front of center skin to protect it while maintaining good approach angle.

We recently bought an 07 5.7 hemi commander for and come July we are buying another one.
Is there any idea of products available from AEV for the XK. I am catching the Vibe that AEV doesn't feel the Commander is a lucrative venue for custom offroad parts, which is sad because they make really good product. I will gladly pay for a set of those iceland fender flares!

I would think that because of the low production numbers, because the Commander is no longer built and because 95% of owners never took them off road, there is going to be limited appeal for any off road love for the Commander.
Maybe when the re-sale prices drop below $10,000, but in the end, it's still a top heavy, under-sprung, IFS station wagon that didn't get the right stuff from the factory to make it attractive to Jeepers.
The Icelander was a beautiful attempt to correct the problems, but not enough folks knew about it to spawn demand.

I agree and disagree Norm (no flames intended here, just constructive input from my end).

The ORIGINAL Commander owners from new were not your average off roader type people, they bought the Commanders to Tour and Tow with usually bigger familys ie: 4 or 5 kids hence the 7 seat layout. Everything in life goes full circle and the Commander will have its day. When they get down in price there will be an abundance of 2nd and 3rd generation owners that will want to modify the crap out of them and most likely there will be a good aftermarket for the WK to support that. There's quite a bit out there for them already but front Bar's are basically the no#1 wanted item. Pity there's nothing good out there that actually looks any good on the Commander except the AEV Iceland front end which is a blend of AEV Genius and Mopar parts.

There is always that possibility, the question is, does it make a good business case?
See my second and third sentences in my first post, we're hoping the same thing and saying the same thing...

Example; the ZJ and WJ are a much better starting platform, because of their suspension and off road ability, however they are not a blimp on the business radar.
The KJ is in the same position, you can find them for $5,000 now, but to correct the suspension for real off road usage bumps the cost back up over $10,000, and that's before you start adding accessories.

You can create a market with a good enough product, but it's still all in the numbers and companies with mainstream products, for the most popular vehicles are having a very hard time, so it's questionable.

I agree, if there had been more Iceland type Commanders out there, the outcome might have been different, but there is such a high cost to make them work like a proper Jeep, it makes the market unknown.

Heck, there is only one way to find out, I just hate to see someone I know, pour money into a one way hole...;)
