View Full Version : HEDRICK Speedsport New AEV Brute build...

Ben Hedrick
11-05-2011, 12:48 PM
HEDRICK Speedsports is building two AEV Brute’s. One will be Chili-Pepper Red and the other one will be a color to be determined. This first one is based off a VERY clean 2002 Jeep Wrangler X in Chili-Pepper Red w/ tan interior that is a one owner Jeep that doesn’t even appear that it has ever been off paved roads before. The plan is to build the full AEV Brute with the AEV Highline kit, including a complete new paint job in Chili-Pepper red, 2” lift kit, 35” BFG KM2’s and AEV Pintler wheels. This first Brute will be for sale and if someone wants it and we certainly can change the color or any options that they want.

Specs
Power: 4.0L
Trans: 5-Speed
Lift: 2.0”
Tires: BFG KM2 35”x12.50-17
Wheels: AEV Pintlers
Lights: TDB
Bumpers: Mopar front, AEV rear
Extras: TBD

Here is the base TJ:

Here is our goal of quality:
(This red Brute was built by Eastern Offroad and they did a GREAT job with this build)

Stay tuned and as we'll be posting more pics from the build soon.

Build starts: 11/07/11

Very cool. Hope the second one is a different but tasteful color.

The first Brute color can be changed too, as I'm not a huge fan of the Chili-Pepper red either. We just thought we'd stick with the same color but we certainly don't have too. The second Brute color I'm not sure of yet as the second Brute I will keep for myself.

Thanks, Ben

OK, question: If we were to repaint this Brute a different color than the Chili Pepper Red, what color should we paint it? Since most body parts are new, it's not that big a deal to change the color...

We're open for suggestions.

Expedition white or tan if you are going the overland route.

Tan or White are both good options. I have aways really liked AEV's original white Brute too.

How about the bright red on that jk8 at Sema?

(its not a factory jeep color)

I vote for Fiat verde oliva. Everytime I see that color, I think to myself that would look badass on a Jeep.

I would love to see a Brute in some sort of hunter green color. Similiar to the color seen on current JKs or moss green found on early TJs.

That's not a bad looking color. That might work well as a variation of the Chili Pepper Red... Do you know what color they used?

I don't! The place card had no info on the color. I also though this color would be better than any tans ever offered speaking of FIAT!

Just a FYI - Chili Pepper Red only came as factory color in 1998 and 1999. In 2000 they made 500 limited "Chili Pepper Red Edition" Jeep TJ's. The color on your 2002 Jeep TJ X appears to be Sierra Red, not Chili Pepper Red. I have only seen one brute made from a Chili Pepper Red TJ and it looked awesome!! Google it to see the pic:)

I believe that we're going with the 2" Old Man Emu now. 35" KM2's and AEV Pintlers. That's the plan for now, subject to change. Ben

I have a 1998 TJ in Chili Pepper Red so I know about how "limited" the color is. That being said, I think you should keep it the same color it is. Sierra Red would be a rare Brute color.:o

I am interested to see how this turns out. I have an LJ with a highline and 35s with no lift. I really dont want to go higher but the stock springs are really lacking.

Also, isnt this Brute Chilli Pepper red?

OK, our Brute project is moving right along. I met with the bodyshop today to discuss painting and the color... So what do you guys think about the JK Sahara Tan for the Brute. The Jeep's got black and tan interior already and it will have a Line-X'd black bed liner too with black Brute flares. Thoughts?

Also, we plan to run the AEV Pintlers so, silver or argent? Assuming that we'll go with a tan or light color.

I don't really care for tans but personally, I prefer the Sahara tan over the Fiat mocha. I think with either of those colors though, black would be the best choice for wheel color.

oO_Rogue_Oo
11-15-2011, 08:49 AM
Argent; the silvers would look a bit too washed out. I'm not a fan of black wheels they disapear into the tire making one big black mass that to me doesn't look good.

Custom pintlers...
Start with silver and powder coat JUST the center star black.
Im not a fan of all black wheels either. The wheels just get lost.

Sort of like this wheel.

OK, here's the latest and greatest. No Sahara Tan color as the interior is already tan, the tan dash and door panels wouldn't look good tan on tan... So, we have considered Blue with the tan interior but I believe we've decided to go back to the factory color that it is now and run the silver Pintlers with the silver Brute and Jeep decals. We want it to look as factory as possible as a Brute so this seems like the best plan. I know the color isn't everyone's favorite but many have said told us that they do like it. So hang tight, it's headed to the paint shop...

Here is a Brute in a JK Red Rock Pearl, which is a very similar color.
Since we're in Florida, just picture it in sand on the beach instead of what ever that white stuff is this one is sitting in... :D

I'm about to start another one, after the holidays. We've had a lot of interest in this one and so hopefully it will find a good new home. :D
