I'd love to hear stories (good and bad) and see some pics of grands with AEV's 4" lift system.
Personally I have an '05 Rocky Mountain Edition with the 4.7. In particular, was wondering about power vs tire size experiences. Please share!

I have not driven one with the 4.7 but I know that with the hemi it seemed as though there was still plenty of power with the 34" tires that I drove. I had a lift on my WJ with the 4.7 and it still had plenty of power with 32" tires. Unfortunately I have not seen much to regear the new Grands and it seems as though the main problem is the loss of gas milage :(. The owner of the Hemi that I drove was averaging 9 mpg, but they have since added the MDS.
I have a 4.7 w/ the 4" lift. It does just fine in day to day driving. The only time it leaves a little to be desired is when driving up some of the mountain passes here in Colorado (no problem maintaining highway speeds).

the kind of tire you use will make the difference. research how many plys it has. the thicker and more agressive tire you have the more sluggish your vehicle will seem. as far as off road stories. all i know is that the quadra drive 2 system is impressive but the drivetrain does not back it up. Ive snapped 4 cv axles in the front(3 right, 1 left), shredded a gear in my transfer case, and gone through a few power steering pumps. I use my car as a daily driver. i have 33" nitto mud grapplers tires, i get about 7 to 8 miles to the gallon in the city and absolutely no more than 12 on the highway, i have a cold air intake, and a gibson cat-back exhaust on the 5.7 hemi. i have just recently added an arb front bumper with a warn 9.5 xp winch with PIAA off road lighting. I am currently doing a 6.1 swap as well. if anyone has any questions?

Thx WohlfordTL for the detail and the pics. Give us an update after the swap.

how much did this engine cost you out of the box? I'm curious...I'm using the Superlift 4" lift with the V6..does pretty darn good actually...as you can tell from the pictures. You keeping the stock rear axle or are you switching up to the rear Dana44 in the SRT8 and modifying it to work?
My next question, and please don't take this wrong, is the powertrain isn;t strong enough to handle the Hemi with QD2 how can the existing powertrain hold up to the 6.1L power output???

I second that!!! Those are great pics cepcnc! Thank you!
Your jeep is almost identical to mine, except I have the damn chrome side molding instead of the black. I am impressed what you can do with your V6... gives me a lot of confidence with my 4.7. Hopefully I won't have as many drive train issues as WohlfordTL, and better mileage too.
Couple questions for you: Did you install the lift yourself? What size tires you using?

Yes, I installed mine by myself. Of course, I had a nice big roomy garage with a car lift in it and every tool I could possibly need or want. I went with Hankook Dynapro RT03 Mud Terrains in size 285/70/17 with Argent Pintlers. I did a nice big write up on jeepsunlimited.com on the install complete with pictures and notes.

Thanks for that info... i signed up and spent all afternoon and evening going through the official "I have a lifted WK" thread... it was extremely sweet! Great pics, great conversation! It gave me a pretty clear idea of what I want to do now.
I highly recommend anyone reading this thread to take a peek at jeepsunlimited as well.
BTW, I still haven't been able to find your install comments though.

I posted this picture elsewhere...this is the front passenger side end link off the anti-sway bar. I bought this kit back in January/February of 2007...and before they changed the welding schematics. This is a weak weld. Broke under normal street driving conditions.

Yikes, We've never seen anything like that swaybar link, but it does look like it was welded in the wrong clocking position.

It was happening to all of us that had the "earlier" kits.

looks like a lot of fun, you tackling the swap by yourself?? What you doing about axles now, upgrading to a 60? or swapping for the SRT8 44?

Hello goodnight friends and fans of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. I recently purchased a 2008 Grand Cherokee model WK to which you install a kit rockkrawler 3.5 "ARB bumper, winch XP 9.5, Light IPF, 265/70R17 rubber Mud.

Well actually the basis of the suspension is Teraflex 4 ", but changed their coil spring and their bases by other spirals of the Toyota brand, had a total of 6.5". With 285/75R16 rubber (33) ARB bumper, IPF lights, Winch ARB, tent roof Camper 4x4 (www.camper4x4.com) bull bar rear manufactured in Venezuela in my own design, porta bidonera, carrying rubber cat hi lift, porta lights. Actually tremendous car that used to compete in 9 cups of the event AWA4X4 (www.awa4x4.com) getting important places on the podium (Up to second place) I love this car is very smooth and powerful and allows activities 4x4

Well one of my first questions.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee WK 2008, installed a kit 3.5 "rockkrawler and ARB bumper and my car lost power and the temperature goes up very often. This happened before putting the 265/70R17 rubber. They could tell me because this will be happening?

Doubt it has anything to do with the lift and I'm not sure what is involved with the installation of the ARB bumper. Is it possible that during the installation of the ARB bumper you damaged the radiator or a hose is loose and leaking?

I will try and disarm the bumper. Thanks for the suggestion.

Personally, I'm not aware of any changes to the cooling system and plumbing that goes into it. Is your WK a HEMI production?? If so, the power steering may be robbing you of power with the heavy addition of weight...oversize tires, front/rear bumpers, etc. Since the tranny, engine, power steering are all pretty much connected and being cooled by the same radiator or auxillary cooling system, you may want to add another auxillary cooler for the power steering. I know of a few people that have had this issue with loss of power to the HEMI equipped Jeeps, and they have replaced the power steering pump more than twice.

I was wondering if it maybe has to do with the lights blocking airflow to the radiator. It wouldn't be the first time I have seen this happen.

true true...there's a guy on jeepsunlimited that produces very very nice aftermarket skid plates, etc and he's been working on a 'pre-runner' style bumper guard. He reviewed the design with engineers and he had to totally rethink and refab a new style bumper because the prior beta model reduced the air flow and it didn't have very good results on the dyno.
