View Full Version : Would be a good Brute - 04 Rubi, 9k miles on CraigsList
I'm in no way affiliated with this.. just saw it while browsing CL. Crazy low miles on a basically new Rubicon with some aftermarket stuff.

probably not a steal at that price, but if someone with the coin were looking for a really good brute candidate, this would do it.

in the ad it says:
After market parts, I installed when I bought it new in 04:
...
2) Slip yoke eliminator with Woods drive shaft
how do you eliminate something a true Rubicon doesn't have

The whole thing seems like it could be scammer.

Jason's right, it is WAY over priced! I'm looking at a 2006 LJ Rubicon with 7K miles and it's $23K and that's too high also but better...

I feel I'm pretty good at spotting scams, but this one didn't set off any bells for me. Why does it for you? I ask so I might avoid a potential scam later, not just to disagree.

I knew that the Rubi has a different xfer case, but I didn't know that it had a fixed yoke until now. Help me out, here.. a fixed yolk requires a drive shaft that sorta telescopes? Is that accurate? When doing the Brute conversion, you have to get a new DS made anyway, so do most people (on a non-Rubi) just go ahead and get a DS made in this style and alter the xfer case?

Just found this on JeepBrokers, too:
04 Rubi w/ 6k miles.. looks stock. $20k

I usually look at Jeeps in the 7-12k range, so all this top-dollar stuff is out of my realm of price-awareness. :)

heck for $23k I'd sell you my 05 TJ Rubi ... already has the AEV highline kit on it so if you want to make it a Brute you're part way there :D
Heck, Id sell my perfect 2010 JKU Rubi with 4.5" Aev lift and 37s for about the same price and it only has 2000 miles and its never seen rain or dirt.
