I know that when the Liberty come out I saw one at Flannagans (winter 2001) that had been cutomized by AEV. There are a lot of liberty owners out there that would love more support with aftermarket products. Also before Nth Degree changed hands there were a lot of people using their products for solid axle swaps. I was wondering if there is any chance that there could be something in the works for the KJ as far as a lift the can utilize our IFS and allow us to run larger tires ( 32" or 33")? Also anything as far as bumpers / protection. There is a large following of Liberty owners that actually wheel these, and if you need any convincing just check out the Liberty Owners Special Teams message boards. We don't want anything crazy, but something that is as capable as the Liberator.

I doubt we'll ever go back and do anything for the KJ. Front suspension and too small of wheel openings where major issues. Maybe the new one will be better.

My wife has the new KK and we both love driving it. the 3.7 is a little underpowered for my personal preference but she drives 80 miles a day so it works for her. I would love to see a Mojave edition KK. My biggest reason for not lifting it right now would be the lack of ESP module (and i don't drive it on a daily basis anyway).

I'm another fan of the KJ because of the Liberator design. I called everyone involved with it and tried to find out as much info. as I could, and realized the aftermarket support would probably not be very strong. I hated to hear that because I thought the Liberty had such great lines. I went ahead and did my own thing and lifted it with a 2.5" lift and ran 32" MTRs. There were very few winch bumpers offered...so I modified an ARB to look more like what I wanted...with the winch up top. It turned out great and I got alot of good reviews. If someone would only have made new upper and lower "A" arms to allow maybe a 3.5" lift....and then an iron center section for the front axle (maybe from the Grand), it could have been a nice little trail rig.
I started the design for a hidden rear winch mount, but no one was making a rear bumper so I abandoned the design. I'm sure Dave and Jordan could turn out some very nice bumpers for the KJ, and I know there are alot of KJ owners who would love to hear of such. But, the TJ and JK owners far out number the KJ owners, and the math probably just doesn't work out. Maybe in the future, AEV will be "everything to all Jeep owners." They sure have a good start.
Here is how mine turned out.

I know once I get my Rubicon I will probably install a Frankenlift on my KJ so I can take the tires off and install them onto the KJ. As far as taller lifts go I know Jeepin By Al has come out with new upper arms with greasable upper ball joints. He also has come out with a 4" lift, but in my opinion I like the look of smaller lifts better. Also Rock Lizard Fabrication has a rear bumper with a tire carrier, but I am not a fan of the way that it looks.

I remember Al was working on the proto-types back in '05 when I built this one, but wasn't quite ready to go to market just then. 4" would be great...and run a narrow 33", but my 32's still rubbed bad even with the pinch seam beat in. The rear bumper has just been left out as is often the case. TrailReady could never get it together to come to market with their bumpers. I tried for over a year, and got tired of waiting. I'm selling my KJ now anyway. No one around here cares enough to pay for the mods so I'm going back stock and parting out the add-ons.
Good luck with your KJ once you get your Rubicon. I think you'll enjoy it...I sure did. The only reason I'm selling is to start another project Jeep.

Our 02-07 rear bumper has been steadily available since 2002. pretty sure we've been good on stock most of that time.
Liberty products will be discontiued here in the next few months. We be going to a product line for the straight axle jeeps only.

Sorry, but I am not a fan of the way that most of the Trail Ready stuff looks. It seems like it is built really well, and heavy duty, but just isn't the style that I am looking for.

I know I tried countless times to buy the TR bumper for my KJ, and really loved the look....but I was always told there was a redesign, or that they would be "ready soon". I'm on all the KJ boards, and I've only known a couple of people who actually have the bumpers...and one was the prototype. I would much rather have had the TR bumper, but I could never secure an order.

Rock Lizard Fabrications has a pretty nice rear bumper for the KJ called the Komodo Dragon. You can find it here - http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/jeep_liberty.htm

I like that bumper, but I think it needs something around the taillight housing to look more visually apealing. I know they didn't do it though because of the rear tire swing, and gerry can mount attaches there.

Does anyone know anything bout the 2" lift that's on the 2008 Liberator 2? From what i can tell it was made by Superlift. anyone know if the system is in production? I don't see it on the Superlift website.
Any info is greatly appreciated
thanks

I am sorry to hear your post. The Jeep Liberty is one good as is vehicle. It may not have the ability to put the monster mudders on it, but there are a lot of four wheel drivers that do not care about climbing boulders or slopping thru the worst gumbo mud. We do enjoy throwing mud and climbing trails that require 4X4. Some of us even use our Liberty for work, getting to and from logging sites, construction sites, etc. The Liberty can use 245/75R16s and I have gotten a 15 inch rim on my 07, which gave me affordable traction tires that work in mud and snow. However the 225/75R16 Goodyear Wrangler STs that came stock (looked like heavy ribbed highway tires) worked great in mud, soft ocean beach sand, and snow.
As for the new Liberty, it came out for two reasons; One because Daimler was selling out (the older Liberty was a Daimler design, had to be changed) and Two because Chrysler will be dropping the Nitro. The new Liberty and the Nitro are exactly the same thing except for the traditional Jeep Grill.
I will keep my 2007 Liberty and adapt as best I can. By dropping anything more for it you leave us with one less resource to buy from. We both loose. However being a welder if I am pushed into it I can weld up and fabricate what is needed. I just wanted to retire and pay someone else to do the work.

I know that once I get my Rubicon I will probably install one in my Frankenlift KJ so I can have the tires and install them on KJ. As for the larger elevators go Be Jeepin By Al came out with new weapons with the upper ball joints relubricated. He also graduated with a 4 lift, but I think I like the look of small lifts better. So Lizard Rock making a rear bumper with tire loader, but I am not a fan of how they look.
