Here is the second Brute that was ever built. It was built just after SEMA 2002.
It has a 5.9L V8, RE Long Arm, AirRock, 37s, 17" Dodge Wheels, a high pinion 44 in the front, a Rear 60 both with 4.88s and ARBs. ARB Bumper, 9500 winch etc etc.

Just out of curiostiy how is the AiRock compared to the standard coil springs.

The frequency of the airbags is all wrong, so ride was not as good as a properly tuned spring. I had them on the Red Brute initially and they had some advantages for load carrying but lets just say that I'm not a fan. Don't get me wrong, they can be made to work, I hated the complexity, I have yet to have a spring leave me in the woods.

I haven't seen that picture in awhile. Old-Top looks plain-jane now.

I like the old top. To me...it keeps the "center" of the Brute from being too "thick". Low profile of sorts. Would there be anyway to "get" one of those older tops with a conversion?

Where did #002 go?

I do like the old top better as well. It looks cleaner.

They both have upsides to me.

Neither hurt my eyes.... and like you said...both have their design benefits. With the highline kit, my eye likes the original top better. The hood and front clip seem thinner from the side profile...and I feel the original top, no skylights, "fits" better.....more in line keeping the center cab section "thin" as well. Just the difference in the two tops can change the LCG perception....to me at least. The new top with the skylight and higher center section seems to follow the lines of the original hood better because of the similar reveal from the side. That's just how my design eye sees it. Certainly not being critical,...just one way I look at it.

I guess if we "future Brute owners" could have it our way...we might like the option of both tops! Build your Brute "Your Way"!

#2 is still one of my favorites.

I second that motion! I too would like the non-skylight top. Don't get me wrong, the skylights look darn good, but like imajeepnut said, with the highline, the original top looks much better.

Also, I LOVE those rocker guards! A step up would be very helpful on a lifted Brute. What does one have to do to get a set of those? They would tie in very nice with the rear bed guards and a tube bumper! I noticed that Viper GTS Blue Brute had them as well.

I know that the garuds are available from AEV, but without the tube work. Having said that I don't think it would be that difficult for someone with a little skill to fabricate the steps as on this Brute.
