- Day Time Running Lamps -

Description:

This is NOT an officially supported feature. But, I spent a couple hours coding it in because I think it looks cool :D The EGR Modules shipped with the code to enable or disable Day Time Running Lights. Built in are a couple different modes. There are no repercussions in attempting this but again, this is not a supported feature.

Disable - Will work for Canadian or European style. Not sure about the legality in those regions so disable DRLs in these areas at your own risk.

Enable - Turns on the Canadian style DRLs (Canadian style turns the lights on when in gear, lights turn off when in Park, lights stay on when in drive regardless of speed). When enabling there are two different DRL locations to choose from:

Low Beams - 6V regulated feed to the low beams (factory / default)

Turn Signals - 6V regulated feed to the front turn signals (Not recommended when using One Touch Lane Change feature*)

Procedure:

The feature works the same as programing in tire size and axle ratio. The process is the same, set the switches and plug it in. The horn should chirp on success. The DIP switch setting for DRL is:

OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF ON XX YY **

Where XX is Enable (Switch ON) / Disable (Switch OFF)
And YY is Turn Signals (Switch ON) / Low Beams (Switch OFF)

This mode is separate from the normal programming (tire/gears/features) mode. You will need to program once for tire size and once for DRLs.

Examples:

56
DRLs OFF - OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF ON OFF OFF

57
DRLs On using Low Beam Lamps - OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF ON ON OFF

58
DRLs On using Turn Signal Lamps - OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF ON ON ON

* In development using Turn Signal DRLs worked along with One Touch Lane Change in some vehicles, in other vehicles the OTLC feature would not blink 3 times per touch. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to which vehicles did and did not work, most probably a TIPM software revision effected this feature.

** This additional feature replaces the unlikely (and currently unavailable) option of using 30" tires with 4.11 gears. No tire size, axle ratio, OTLC or Mirror Tilt will be programmed in this mode, just the DRL features.

This parameter is also effected by the no-honk issue on Laredo models.

However, very easy to confirm in DRLs are enabled or disabled.

Dont most vehicles with DRL's run their brights, not the low beams? Was that not possible?

Most run a lower than normal voltage to the low beam lamps, or else they have been using the turn signals as well. On the Canadian Jeeps where DRL is needed it has always been the low beam that have been used.

6V High beam DRL was an option. I just chose to use low beams as thats what a Canadian version I checked was set to.

I can't imagine too much of a difference, they aren't terribly bright at 6V.

If they come with high beams in Europe or there is a reason highs would be better I could certain look into changing the factors around.

When I can get the Superlift and need the EGR module, I will use the turn signal feature for DRL, assuming my WK also engages the 3 blink feature. I think GM vehicles look good that have the orange DRL's.

They will be back in stock very soon, I'm checking on the status right now.

Also, I'm not sure I can say whether the turn signal drls + otlc (one touch lane change) will work correctly, but If I were to guess I would think it does work on WK. I also like that look.

Update: I've been told they are now online.
