Any news on an update for the release of the 5.7 manual trans kit? Does it allow you to use the stock 6 speed? Any info would be great . . .I am getting ready to do a 5.7 and do not wanna go with an auto . . .

Thanks

We'll be showing it in Moab next week, parts have been ordered. Can't use the stock six speed, have to change to the Dakota/Ram small six speed the Getrag 238 used behind the 4.7. Kit is complete, plug and play and runs a factory cal, no hybrid custom PCM. 5.7 with six speed is just as fast as a 6.1/545 combo and makes for a FANTASTIC daily driver.

I spent a couple weeks before Moab driving that vehicle around for development.

I rode in it an absolutely love it.....when will the conversion builders kit be ready? Will I be able to use my current driveshafts (have a 6 speed) or will those need to be relplaced as well? Just put in Tom Woods shafts a few months back and would hate to scrap them.

I got a feeling in the next six months a lot of good progress will be made on several fronts regarding the hemi swaps . . . .jus dunno if I can wait that long!!!

Thanks to AEV and all the other shops that make this an option for the JK owners.

I have an 08 Rubicon 4-door and am planning to do the conversion. I havent had much luck finding a Getrag 238, but can readily find reman NV4500s. Can anyone tell me why the NV4500 wouldnt be a decent option?

NV4500 drives like a truck trans, very widely spaced. Yes you can bolt it up but I'm not sure where the stick would get placed. Since you have a Rubicon with a 4:1 the granny 1st of the 4500 is probably pretty useless. I wouldn't recommend the 4500 in this application. G238 is narrow spaced and drives really well, perfectly matched for a JK.

Just so everyone understands the AEV manual kit uses a factory computer calibration. All the shops currently installing manuals into JKs are re-using the auto calibration which causes quirks and is not recommended, yes it works, but its not right.

Guess it is either a blower and keep the 6 spd or go with a hemi and the auto for now . . . . . .

Any development on the manual kit?

I really wish there was a 6.1L manual option as it would make a good combo for sand dunes..

at least tell us what transmission would work best with it.. so that I could find a tranni for a good deal :p

DeJeep - on the topic of the blower and other (Banks pack) - have you heard or can you shed an light on how effective that kit will be? I know that it is Apples to Oranges in comparison to the 5.7 swap, but just wanted to see what your thoughts are.

Does anybody know, whether the 6 spd can be swapped into a 2005 5.7 WK?

Lots of info on the blower vs. Hemi topic on the JK forum
http://www.jk-forum.com/ Do a search on "Hemi" and one on "Ripp"
The Ripp supercharger kit is supposed to work well with the 6 speed. I have had several blowers on several cars and it is a good way to add power if done correctly and tuned right . . . .The AEV Hemi kit is a better way to go. It is more costly and if you find low mile used parts the cost is double . . . if not it can be a lot more . . . . it is a system that anyone can work on they both have good points but in the end the Hemi wins hands down.

The supercharger will give you the power but you will need to work the gears and be in the power band. Depending on how much extra weight you are wheeling . . . it will come on and pull nicely but it will not have the trq down low on demand . . . the blower is enough to turn 35's and make the JK livable but the hemi is what should have come form the factory

I wanna buy the Ripp and be happy and save some money but in the end I know I will get the Hemi and will not look back at my decision . . . whereas with the Ripp I will question my choice every day.

Not sure about the 6 spd swap for the WK as we really have no info on the JK other than what Dave posted in the beginning of this thread. I would bet you can do it but it may not be cost effective . . . try to PM Dave as a phone call to AEV may run up the bill a bit form Germany

Good Luck
