JK Slider installation, need help.

I got the slider skid for my 2dr JK a couple of weeks ago and decided to put it today. First let me say, I am not an expert, but so far I have always installed everything I get for my jeep, AEV bumper+skid, my OME lift, and many other mods... To my surprised, the slider gave me the most trouble and took me at least a good hour to put on, and I am not even done. If you have a carlift, the whole thing would be much easier, unfortunately I don't which make it difficult to work in such a tight space no to say that the slider is extremely heavy...

Also, as usual, the instructions aren't that great and not very well written, this is really AEV's Achilles heel, it would be nice to have a set of instructions with detailed pictures and diagrams, that would certainly make up for the poorly written instructions. I am sure you are aware there are actually professional writers that write technical manuals for a living...:p

now the question:

This is what I have done so far: first I loosely inserted the 3/4 u-bolt to the slider and then very slowly "pushed" the front of the slider, using a small hydraulic jack, until the 1/2 u-bolt was in enough to loosely insert the washer+nuts. My question is for the 3/4 u-bolt. The kit came with "8" 3/8 locknuts. I am not sure what to do with the extra 4? Where are they supposed to go?

They may be a the bolts if you have the "stinger" look at link and see picture for two bolts bottom right that hold stinger to slider. The stinger is a for a TJ, so I do not think you use the bolts. That's my guess based on what you are describing.

They are used for the "double nut" trick...
Double up the nuts on the 3/8" u-bolts to protect the threads from damage.
