We use the ARB large shackles. Not sure where they're made but have never seen/had/heard of any issues.

Dave... Any future plans for engineering lift kits and bumpers etc for the RAM 1500 platform? I just got a RAM Rebel and love it. The heavy duty 2500 platform are just a bit too much truck for my needs at the moment. I also have a JK350 setup on my Rubicon that I love. I hope to someday build up the 1500. I may have to trade up to a 2500 someday.

ARB Shackles and the referenced ARB207E are made in China. When it comes to shackles ARB is just a reseller. The do not manufacture the shackles. This ARB207E is a 1" nominal size shackle with an actual pin diameter of 1-3/32" and a load rating of 8-1/2 ton, which is not an actual rating or certification. It is essentially just whatever the Chinese chose to stamp on there. Whereas the made in USA shackles have actually been rated and certified. On the ARB product page there are three different load ratings listed; 1) 8-1/2 stamped on the shackle, 2) "18,700LB" in the title, 3) "19,000 lbs." in the description. This is potentially dangerous and does not lend confidence towards the product. Furthermore, because this is sold as an ARB shackle and it has an unclear load rating ARB is opening up themselves to potential liability.

Also be conscious of side-loading shackles on your AEV bumper.

i went with skookum alloy, crosby and van beest forged 7/8th shackles for the recovery setup. the skookum shackles are beastly their working load limit far exceeds even the forged crosby shackles but cha ching!

now for the snatch block i went with warns 30k pound unit. lol its also a monster the thing must weigh 20 pounds lol

i didn't want any weak links and recovery kit while not cheap in the grand scheme of things can fail i have seen a shackle break and its not situation you want to be in. as it can obviously severely damage your vehicle and or injure or kill a person. running steel cable also doesn't inspire a lot of confidence on my part i always go in for synthetic rope but with the ram i opted to keep the steel for a few reasons but it wouldn't be my first choice.
