Default Prospector XL build by WDL1982

As requested (here), a little build page for my Prospector XL with custom expedition box.

The truck:
2015 RAM 3500 Crew Cab, short bed, Tradesman
Cummins with Aisin (yeah 865 ft lb ), 4x4

Options:
- SPOD SE with touch screen and bluetooth module and ARB wiring harness
- RAM mounts mount for iPad 3 for navigation (road: Google maps, off-road: Gaia GPS app)

Pending:
- full Prospector XL package from AEV with FR/RR airlockers, pre-filter "snorkel", Warn 16.5t, 4.30 gears, AEV diff covers and 2 spares (40" Toyo Open Country MT on Katla 17x10)
- Custom expedition box to be build by Alumline (see basic 3D design below (did it myself)). A flatbed tray with fully enclosed custom canopy with side opening gull-wing doors (hinge at the top) and 2 spares hanging of the back and full length (cab-over) roof rack.
- Once I get the truck back home (Nor-Cal) I will re-install my AutoHome Columbus XL medium roof top tent

My DIY 3d design idea for the custom box:

Planned:
- Titan STAFS aux fuel tank (spare tire aux fuel system) for additional 30 gal of diesel
- Rigid 50 or 54" RDS curved light bar on the roof (have to see the clearance with the raised air intake pre-filter)
- Rigid E series 28 or 30" amber light bar on the front bumper, hopefully it will fit inside the AEV bumper hoop, if not, it will go on top
- Side facing LED lights (left/right) to see what besides you when driving at night
- Reversing lights, some bright LED lights on the back with the 3-way switch (on/off/on reverse)
- 2 Optima yellow top batteries in the canopy, to run my ARB fridge (80qt)
- Compressor for tires (maybe tools), maybe with an airtank (or not)
- 110V inverter in the back and small one in the cab (for my laptop)
- Going to install my HAM radio (Yaesu FTM-400)

Ideas (input more than welcome):
- I would like a 360 degree camera system that does 2 things: is a 'dashcam' (so a mobile DVR that records on a loop and saves accident footage or with a save button) AND can be used to view live feed on a monitor in the cab to help navigate obstacles off-road. I'm thinking front facing cam, rear facing cam (reversing cam) and 2 side facing (probably mounted on the roof rack facing sideways and down a little bit).
- ... (at this point I will likely have run out of money ... )

So long ... see you soon

Looking forward to the build! I would really reconsider gearing... Have you used a gearing calculator? Like I said in a previous post, I run 4.30s with lockers and 37s. I think the Diesel Power guys put 4.56s in their AEV build with 40s. I would lean towards 4.56s with the 40s. I think it'll help with drivability and hauling.... Just my 2 cents...

And Alumline also sent some pictures of the body under construction. Right side of the box is the rear.

This is gonna be great. Be sure you have enough room for the rear uptravel, for whatever reason, most flatbed companies mount them too low, especially when combined with the low lift/big tire.

Nice progress. The matte black on the new hood and the Alumline look great. You have any mock ups as to what the inside of the flatbed / topper will be like?

This. Alum-Line is famous for keeping the bodies as low as possible on trucks. We always specify what we want for for long sills as well as crossmembers and placement to make sure of up travel. This will also help with fuel intake placement and filling. 5" bare minimum to get the correct flow
