Exclamation Instrument Panel light show + huge issues.

This weekend I added an sPod, two Baja Designs XL80's and a Squadron Pro. The install went great, no hiccups and i'm very happy with both the lights and spod. I'm not sure these events are connected but it bears mentioning.

2 days later (last night) i was driving while all of a sudden all of my warning lights started flashing and coming online -rather suddenly. I drove through some rain the day before and the jeep did well, no leaks, nothing out of the usual.

What happened next was interesting.. I was doing 35 on an empty stretch (with warning lights flashing) and my ABS/Traction control started to act out. It felt like i was tapping the brakes which was a new experience for me. I've felt something similar while drive on snow but never on dry pavement.

Following that, i stopped to have a look and noticed the fan was making a lot of noise, sounded like a truck at rest stop. I checked the battery terminals, made sure everything was tight and removed the sPod leads from the battery terminals just in case. I tried restarting the Jeep and it had a hard time turning over. At one point it wouldn't even start. I unplugged the battery for 20 minutes and put everything back together -no improvements.

Lastly, I used the pro cal to remove the codes and reset a few things like tire size, pressure etc and nothing, -no improvements.

Out of idea's i went to the dealer. They scanned for codes and saw that there were over 20 codes being recorded. The dealer suggested it could be a computer gone bad or a number of things -he just wasn't sure.

This morning when i got the dealer i went to unlock the jeep with the fob and it remote started on it's own.. WTF.

The Jeep is a 2015 and the battery is 16 months old.

I've never in all my years owing vehicles experienced this. Usually a light would come on and i'd take care of it the next day. Feeling unsafe to drive home I left the Jeep at a nearby Jeep dealer and had a friend drive me home.

I'm curious if anyone has any experience with this? or if it sounds like a bad battery?

My other question.. could it be the spod and/or baja designs lights? everything functions great but i'm curious if adding those lights triggered a system error or a short?

Fuses all looked good.

Everything was grounded just fine.

Appreciate any comments, thanks.

I have a 2013 JKUR 350. Mine reacted in a similar way. I didn't change any lights, so you may have a short somewhere. I brought mine to the local dealer, 495Jeep and they were great. They quickly diagnosed it as a bad/dead battery. They also told me that the Jeep needs to have a steady current, once it drops below the required steady required current level (I think they said at least 10.4 but not positive that was the number) stuff starts to shut itself off and react weird.

All my lights were going on and off, ABS, traction control, sway bar, literally everything was going on and off, except for the radio, which just shut down, along with the GPS, door locks wouldn't work either.

Replaced battery and all has been fine since.

Good luck with yours, mine was a quick fix.

Wow, you've got a lot of "stuff" going on there. Not sure I'll be able to help but, I am running a sPOD and A LOT of Baja Design lights, (17) total and I've NEVER experienced anything like this. WOW!!

Check your grounds. JK's are very "ground" sensitive.

Ben

Thanks for the responses fellas.

We found the issue. Turns out there was a connector that went bad. The seal was compromised and it took on water. Connector was replaced and we're doing jeep waves again.

sPod and Baja lights are doing fine.

Driving down the highway today and it looks like the problem is back.

Sway Bar light was first then everything else 3 miles later.

Err.

Checked all grounds last night, nothing seems out of place or terribly loose.

Instead Dealer replaced what they said was a faulty harness near the sway bar disco directly behind the front bumper. So far so good.
