Default AEV Tire Carrier installed-stiff

I installed the tire carrier yesterday, seems to all fit well, but the rear door is not easy to close, it doesn't swing smoothly. Better of course without the spare on, but much heavier with it.

Should the whole thing be a smooth operation?

It should definitely be smooth. Did you pre-grease prior to final assembly and have you greased the zerk fitting?

We had one like that once. We used a Scotch pad on the inside of the tire carrier bracket. Seemed that there was eccesive PC inside. Worked smooth as glass after that.

We went ahead and removed the carrier, added more grease, then reseated everything. Swings a good bit more smoothly now. How tight did you make the bolt on the underside of the carrier?
