    Haha excellent story. It looks a little bit more like a light gray in the pictures. Interesting that it's more beige. Thanks for the feedback.

      Dave, what is the story with the front axle on these 3500 CC trucks. It is listed as a "205MM Heavy Duty Front Axle". What is the story there? Why would it not have the 9.25 AAM? What front axle does your truck have?

        Not sure where you are looking but my system lists it as a 235MM axle, which is the standard HD Ram AAM 9.25...heck, even the 1/2 ton has a 215mm front ring gear.

        3500 cab chassis have essentially the same axles as the pickups in terms of gears and lockers...UNLIKE the 4500/5500.

          Thanks for the quick reply. It was listed as 205mm on the build summary for the truck. It sounded wrong to me. Must be a typo.

              Right. If I did a 4500/5500 I would be swapping for AxleTech solid axles. Actually, I looked into building a 5500 with Oshkosh Tak4i. Oshkosh said no. I wanted the setup from the JLTV. Then asked if I could buy a JLTV rolling chassis and got a big no. AxleTech makes the 3000 ISAS series which would be a good alternative option if you wanted independent suspension. Less wheel travel than the Oshkosh at 11.8 inches (JLTV has 20 inches), but it still has CTIS capability, lockers, and you can add portal boxes as well. 3000 ISAS front/3400 ISAS rear would be the setup. Meritor ProTec HMIS Series 30 would be another option. Stock HMMWV has about 8 inches of wheel travel, for reference.
