No the Nomad is not for sale, the new owner was out wheeling it with me this last weekend. We are pretty good at building new ones though. Thanks on the pics, we will definitely have more soon with all of the builds, Howitzer, Mine "Sledge", the Nomad XXL, and a couple more being built shortly. By mid summer you should see a whole Gaggle of them out on an exploratory camping weekend. Last nights progress was a factory dual alternator install. Had the dealership turn on the circuit and I ordered up the mounting bracket with hardware, secondary location alternator, extended belt, and power cable. This way if I'm winching and I decide I want to listen to music, turn all my lights on, have an ARB fridge freezer, and possibly run a small village I can do it all at the same time. Sweet install, super easy.

OK, so now you got me interested. I was thinking about doing this too as my truck only has the 180 Amp alternator. So it is as easy as getting the bracket, the alternator, a longer belt and power cable and have the dealership adapt the computer? That is it?

Any more info on this swap? maybe via PM? Thanks a lot!

It is that easy, the plug for the alternator is located right above the CP3 pump ready to plug in. The dealership will go in with the Witech and enable dual alternators. You then just have to mount it up. All factory parts it took about an hour because the belt is a pain otherwise it would be 20 min. I've gotten in trouble winching in hard spots too often because of the charging system not being up to par.

On another forum, I read trucks with single 180A alt can be upgraded to a single 220A alt, but not to dual alts. Is that accurate?
                        Thanks.

that would be interesting as I only have a 180 and wanted to go with dual 220s.

Cooper, can you post up closer photos of your cubes wired in the fog light bezels. I am interested to see how it works with the AEV bumper.

                            Mostly for aesthetics.

On the comments revolving around the alternator, when upgrading to the duals there is no question on amperage nor is there for the single alternator location. As far as the Amperage goes the only thing affected would be the wiring and whether or not it could handle it. The ECM controls the alternator output but its only reference is voltage. It will increase the output based on voltage drop. So for instance with the factory 180 while out night wheeling in the snow. I was seeing the voltage drop to 12 while winching with lights on, that tells me the 180 amp can't keep up. Since the winch is rated to pull a lot more amperage then even 180 I upgraded to the secondary alternator which only comes in a 220 for that location. Because it feeds the second battery (drivers side) directly it affects the wiring less then if it were feeding the passenger side which would then need to transfer to the drivers side to keep up. I have an available 400 amps if full load is needed, however I will be well within the range. I looked through the witech up and down to find out if it mattered matching the alternators and from what I have gathered, it doesn't matter. Take that info and do with it what you will. I am currently running a 180 in the stock location and a 220 in the secondary location. I will keep everyone informed of any issues that I come across. As it is now even with every light on my voltage won't drop below 14 while running. All is happy.

the lights use a Baja Designs stock foglight replacement mount and two Squadron Pros. One in Spot and one in driving combo. Here is a link to both.
