Notice some slop in my steering out of the blue. Turns out frame side track bar bushing is toast and drag link bearing has some radial play I'm guessing in the .040 range. I have 75k miles on my AEV lift so not overly concerned with AEV quality. Has anyone else have these issues? Contacting AEV for replacement. Also would ram assist help with this issue in the future?

Im sure your track bar and drag bar are wore, but this might help also (I have this issue):

Ive tracked down the original manufacturer of the AEV bushings, awaiting response on if I can stock up on bushings with a press adapter. Doesn't solve long term rebuilds of the drag bar, still searching for a eventual backup for that. This is part of owning a ram...Last edited by Wapitihunter; 12-31-2017, 10:39 PM.2014 CCSB Tradesman 2500 -- G56 -- AEV dualsport -- AEV Salta -- 37x12.5r17 Toyo M/T -- AEV bumper -- VisionX 6.7" light cannon and lightbar -- Warn 16.5TI -- Mopar flares -- 8.4" Uconnect swap w/ customtronix jailbreak (front/rear/trailer cam) -- 3.73 gears w/ ARB front and rear -- Switch-Pros 8100 -
I also easily diagnosed some front end wandering as a bad drag link (knuckle side) and front track bar bushing exhibiting quite a bit of play (frame side). 2017 Power Wagon with AEV susp. I got the updated no-drill drag link and a fresh OEM knuckle from AEV so that will fix the drag link issue.
I'd like to get a Thuren or Carli front track bar but not sure about:
1. Clearance with the AEV diff cover under compression
2. Adjustment length short enough for use with the AEV raised trackbar bracket.
I'm not liking the idea of replacing the entire front track bar with the same bar, nor pressing in and out bushings, which wouldn't be a long term solution anyways if the ID of the trackbar gets worn? Also I'm thinking a non-rubber bushing aftermarket track bar would help tighten up the front end...
Anyone combined an aftermarket track bar with AEV stuff ?Last edited by WILDPEAK; 12-14-2020, 07:06 AM.Comment
