  • How to learn driving skills?

Well, of course the best answer is to join up with a local Jeep group but there seem to be none that are active in the Portland Oregon area, sadly. Short of that it would seem that attending off road driving classes might be the next best option. Any recommendations? I would prefer the NW or the West... (California, Utah, Colorado etc. are all "do-able".
    Thanks!

just go out and practice. Looks like there was a jeep jamboree in Oregon so there has to be good wheeling there. There is one coming up in Wallace Idaho.

Consider contacting AEV to see if they will be conducting a training in the area. They have in the past.

Chris Wood from AEV is an International 4-Wheel Drive Trainers' Association Certified Trainer and can assist you in what you are looking for. Other options include Bill Burke's 4-Wheeling America.

Thanks guys...my only concern about going out on my own is getting in over my head without the trading or experience to get myself extracted! I'd love to participate in an AEV event.

I highly recommend Bill Burke for instruction. My wife and I have taken 2 trips with him in the Moab area. His trips are experiential, no canned routine. We have done sand dunes to chutes under his capable eyes. Excellent experience.
