  • Another snorkel copycat.

Today I got this magazine in the mail. Not sure how as I have never heard of the company before . Seems like most of their products are knock offs.

I've heard of extreme terrain. What makes you think their products are knock offs?

It isn't their products that are knock offs, but they are a US dealer that has many knock of parts. If you look at their RedRock 4x4 line the armor is all Olympic 4x4 items rebranded, and probably bought from some Chinese company that copied the original stuff. They also did the same thing with the AEV snorkel. At the same time they also carry some of the name brand products as well.

They might just be Olympic rebranded for their store brand. That's very common. Quadratec does it all the time.

Maybe AEV will chime in but I am almost 100 % positive that isn't an AEV product with a different name.

AEV doesn't rebrand any of their items except for Mopar, and if they did I wouldn't expect to find it for 1/2 of the price. They do sell their corner blanks (builder corners) to Poison Spyder and GenRight and they turn them into their corners, so this is the only other instance where AEV sells their items (modified by another company) without their name on them.

Companies rebrand their items all the time for larger companies like Quadratec now that they have gotten large, and their sales can justify having their own re-branded items, but Xtreme Terrain started with a low cost knock offs from Ali-Baba, and have continued to do so. Some of their very early web pages were all Red Rock 4x4 at a fraction of the price of the originals.

That company is not related to Quadratec, but just stole the look and feel of their catalog and their business model. They sell mustang and computer parts too...Kind of strange, but yeah they sell quite a few knock off parts for sure. They also do business as Turn 5, Inc, American Muscle and others...

                Another knock off part

I was looking thru ebay and came across something interesting. It appears that AEV has gotten into carbon fiber hoods... Hahahahah

Is it flattery or is it thievery?

                  Thievery.

I like the quality in this photo of the "carbon fiber" hood. It looks like its all hand laid fiberglass mat underneath (A). The weakest, heaviest and cheapest of all fiberglass composites. Any bets it wasn't applied by children in China with no safety equipment?

Nice mesh cut out with snips too. (B)
