Could anyone that has done a gear swap to 4.10's shed some light on what brand you used and if a tune was required after install. Right now the only manufacture I can find is Nitro Gears for our trucks. Is a new carrier going to be required for the gearing as well? If you did the swap has it made a big difference and are you happy with your decision. Thanks guys.

Haven't regeared yet! But I've used Nitro gears in my other builds and they've been flawless. You can go online and use a gear ratio calculator to see where your rpms will be at highways speeds with your tire height. I was planning on running 4.10 with 285s but now that I saw the 35s and flares in person im def going to be running 4.56s. Mine however is a gasser and i need the higher gear to overcome my lack of torque.👍 1Comment

Ive tuned all the modern cars with a regear, and when its the colorados time to regear I will most def tune it. The transmission probably wont run right without it.Comment

I did nitro 4.10s front and rear with 35s installed at nitro in Wenatchee, WA and a Duramax Tuner 50 state legal multi tune. Got Speedo back to par. Took a few rounds with their programmers to match gps speeds but they were great to work with. The transmission tune gets shift points in the right spot and the profiles seems great. I used enhanced stock most of the time and it boosts torque by quite a bit. It’s easy to flash the truck module and nothing needs to stay plugged in. The 4.10s gets you back to stock gear ratio with 35s. I thought about 4.56 but do a lot of highway driving so back to stock gear ratio was fine by me. You do get some gear whine vs stock Gm gears but it’s tolerable and to be expected. Given nitro was the installer I am convinced it was done right and I inspected when I did the first oil change and no premature wear or anything.Comment
